Definition of Recruitment
“Recruitment is a process of finding
out the prospective applicants and stimulating them to apply for the vacancy.
It is a long process which involves a series of activities that starts with
analysing the job requirements and ends on the appointment of the employee”
(Surbhi, 2022).
The activities are involving in the
recruitment of employees are as under:
· Analysing job requirement
· Advertising the vacancy
· Attracting applicants to apply for the job
· Managing response
· Scrutiny of applications
· Shortlisting candidates
The recruitment is done by the Human Resource managers both internally or externally. The sources of internal recruitment are promotion, transfers, retrenched employees, contact or references, ex-employees, retired employees, and so on. On the other hand, sources of external recruitment are recruitment through advertisement, campus recruitment, recruitment by employment exchanges, and recruitment by third parties (recruitment agencies), internet recruiting, unsolicited applicants, and etcetera.
Definition of Selection
“Selection is an activity in which the
organisation selects a fixed number of candidates from a large number of
applicants. It involves the actual appointment of the employee for filling up
the vacancies of the enterprise. The term selection means the placement of the
right man at the right job. We all know that a lot of people apply for a single
job at the time of recruitment, in which the recruiters have to decide which
candidate fits the best for the job” (Surbhi, 2022).
The selection also involves a set of
activities which are mentioned as under:
· Screening
· Eliminating unsuitable candidates
· Conducting the examination such as aptitude
test, intelligence test, performance test, personality test, etc.
· Interview
· Checking References
· Medical Test
The process of selection is a time-consuming one because the HR managers have to identify the eligibility of every applicant for the post. Besides this, the educational qualification, background, age, and so on are also some of the most important factors in which they have to pay more attention. Later this, the written examination and interview is also a very tough task.

“Recruitment is a process of searching
out the potential applicants and inspiring them to apply for the actual or
anticipated vacancy. On the other hand, Selection is a process of hiring
employees among the shortlisted candidates and providing them a job in the
organization” (Surbhi, 2022).
Due to increase in population, obtaining
a good job is not an easy task. Employers want the right applicant for the
concerned position. The big supply of workforce has given them the opportunity
to select the best talent.
Nowadays, there is a very lengthy procedure for appointment of a worker to a post. There are two major stages which might be heard by you hundreds and hundreds of times; they are recruitment and selection. Most of us can see them as the same thing. The recruitment process to some extent is not done objectively and therefore lot of bias hampers the future of the employees. That is why the search or headhunt of people should be of those whose skill fits into the company’s values. • Most of the employees were satisfied but changes are required according to the changing scenario as the recruitment process has a great impact on the working of the company as fresh blood, and new idea enters the company. • The selection process is good but it should also be modified according to the requirements and job profile so that the main objective of selecting the candidate could be achieved. • The training and development activities are needed in the organization because most employees are interested to take training and development for future growth. • Thus, it is clear that training and development activities are needed for employees ‟s performance and organizational development.
ReplyDeleteThe goal of selection is to locate the most qualified candidate who will best fit the job requirements in an organization, as well as to determine which job applicant will be successful if employed.
ReplyDeleteTo achieve this purpose, the organization collects and evaluates data on candidates' age, qualifications, talents, and experience, among other things.
The amount and quality of work performed by employees is directly affected by how well they are matched to their jobs.
Any mismatch in this regard can cost a company a lot of money, effort, and difficulty, especially when it comes to training and operational expenditures.
